Hello Tony! This is John Vousden - your erstwhile guitar pupil at the SGC, Cardiff. Great to hear and see you play again! Best wishes,

Tony was always a league above me when I knew him and I've always been in awe of his ability to capture and reproduce the finesse of early music so sensitively.

Mr. Bailes is still the master - wonderful clean sound. May we not have more please?

I am so glad, that Tony Bailes recorded this recital. I heard it last year in Bremen and it was wonderful!

Very sweet, and we love the stylish hand warmers. An empathetic individual knows exactly what happened behind the fingerboard on the final chord.

the beautifull recording of Mezangeau may be year 1979?

Beautiful playing, Tony, as usual. I am still scratching around on the guitar but now it's only an enjoyable hobby. I'd like to see more of your playing on YouTube. I still remember your first lute... or was it a boat?
Best wishes
David

One of the very few lutenists who play as impeccably as Hopkinson Smith, and with plenty of tenderness and tranquillity. Incidentally, Maestro Bailes resembles my maternal (Dutch) great-grandfather Professor Piet Aalberse, the first Minister of Labour!
