Lesson Planning - Part 1 - Why do we plan lessons?

This is the first video of our Lesson Planning series.

The first episode answers why we should plan our lessons as a teacher in the first place. Firstly, it creates a logical sequence for the lesson. Secondly, a lesson plan is a working document and a useful guide for the teacher to follow during the lesson. Thirdly, it creates a record of what has been taught that can be referred to later on. Lastly, a lesson plan can also be used for someone to cover your lesson in case you cannot hold it.

As I watched the video, I learned a lot especially the importance of doing lesson plan, we need to do lesson plan and in lesson plan we have to be very careful of what we are going to put, , we have to be mindful in doing lesson plan for us to have a better flow of communication when we are teaching, doing video like this and upload in YouTube is a big help to everyone.

Why do we plan lessons?

Planning lessons helps us organize our thoughts. We may have some ideas of carrying out an activity with children, but if we can actually write it out in a lesson plan, it helps us not forget key elements, it helps us make sure that everything's developmentally appropriate, and the we have the right types of materials to carry out the activity. Lesson plans can also help us see how a particular activity is connected to other curricular areas or how it's connected to other themes or ideas that we're using in a particular classroom or setting. This pulls in the whole idea of integration and that everything goes together.
