2050s? The SLS would be outdated in the 90s 😂😂

2050s? You're right that's hilarious! It'll be lucky if it flies at all. Maybe it was a slip and they meant it'll be ready to fly by the 2050s...😂

Damn 30 more years. Imagine how the people who worked at NASA during the Mercury/Apollo days are looking at this. They went from ground to the Moon in less than 30 years. At that rate of innovation we should have colonies on Europa by that point, instead of flying ancient technology.

SLS and Orion being ready for a first flight by 2050 seems like a reasonable estimate.

Hahaha, your hilarious Sebastian!! I loved the part where you said by the 2050’s, even blue origin will probably have a base on the moon! Lmao! I think you would make a great standup comedian! On a serious note, thank you again for your unabashed and frank presentation, well done once again

Seeing the SLS fly in 2050 will be the equivalent of seeing a Ford model T on the road today.

@6:15 *2050?* Well, you know, it might take NASA about that long for them to actually _launch a rocket._

I don't think they're actually aiming to fly SLS into the 2050's. I think what they're doing is coming up with new acronyms that allow them to start distancing themselves from SLS. Right now, SLS is their default choice, but over the last half year, they've been dropping more and more hints that internally they're strongly considering using Starship. They probably think it's politically unwise for them to publicly declare Starship as the main vehicle, before they've seen it fly. Which makes sense to me since there is zero down side for them to wait. They can simply wait until Starship is ready, and when it shows itself to be superior in every way, it will be far easier politically to swap vehicles.

I'm sure Senators with jobs on the line in their states will attempt to cause friction. But once Starship proves itself to be orders of magnitude better, there will be great political pressure to get Starship through. Jobs are a concern for senators being reelected, so they have to be seen shaking their fists at people who want to (temporarily) take them away. But beneath the surface, they have other competing concerns. They also have to worry about how they will look if they allow China or Russia to dominate space, especially with the recent missile test. And America is still a land of merit and innovation, even if there is corruption at times. Standing in the way of such a dramatic American achievement will not be popular.

Your commentary is spot on. Nice to see a site that calls a spade a spade. As a film character correctly stated, "Stupid is as stupid does, " and we are clearly seeing that in Congress' continuing support of SLS. which is ironic considering high cost conscious they say they are. Keep telling it as it is.

The question that immediately raises after such an announcement is :

"How many SLS flights do you plan for these 30 years ?"

It wont matter once starship is up and running. It will be so obvious how obsolete SLS is.

I'm sure gm would have loved to just keep producing the 56 bel air too but alas stuff gets outdated.

Great video guys!! Thanks for the update

Sounds as if they figure that, since the Shuttle flew for 30 years, the SLS needs to do so as well, or it's a failure. And they're probably right.

Just imagine the permitting process in Germany for a rocket launch facility. Look at the obstacles Tesla is confronting for a mere car factory in the middle of a tree plantation.

To be fair India's ASAT mission was much better as they used a dedicated target and after only 2 of conducing it, almost all the debris has burned up
