Such a wonderful band. Ritchie Blackmoore retired from Rock (Deep Purple, Rainbow), and formed Blackmoore's Night with Candace Night, his pop-singer wife. They bought a big Scottish Castle and found they loved the country life, but music and performing was in their blood, so they formed a neo-baroque/pop/rock group that played rocked-up songs that sound like music from hundreds of years ago, but with Blackmoore's great guitar and Candaces clean pop vocal, and modern arrangements with old-timey sounds.
They actually specialize in Christmas Songs, and have several great Christmas Albums!

The loreley is an german lore about a beautifull lady who was getting many marriage purposals but declined them all because her loved one was claimed to enter war and never came back
When she heared that he had been fallen she got very angry and located herself ontop of an cliff at the rhein
and begann to sing because of this all sailors who came along this cliff
where enchanted by her than crashed the ship and drowned

Loreley in German, is a 132-metre-high, steep slate rock on the right bank of the River Rhine in the Rhine Gorge at Sankt Goarshausen in Germany, part of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site.

What makes Blackmore's night unique for me is their bravery in telling old stories and myths in their songs. Keeps me in the books on wolves, vampires, witches and dragons.... This song in particular is of an old German legend about a cliff top by the river rhyne and she's compared to a siren
