Just letting you know, the new MINDSTORMS hub is 100% compatible with powered up motors! I’ve tested it and it works! I think I’ll be ripping out the control+ hub from all my control+ technic models, and I’ll replace it with the spike prime hub! I really wanna be able to make robots out of my technic sets and code them on an advanced level with python!

I have been a Lego Technic fan for a long time now, but I think I need to look at mindstorms a lot better! Opens up so many more possibilities. 😀

To me it looks like Lego is getting more and more just a money grabber. I liked much more the first editions of Lego Mindstorms from the 00s. They were ~200 bucks and were geared to a more experienced (adult) people. They offered much more possibilites from a developer's point of view. I remember the third party programming languages like NXC and NQC, which boosted the limited capabilities of the simple bricks. I understand the goal now is to get to young kids into learning robotics, but seriously 400$ for a "toy" for a 10 year old kid? Seems too much to me. Not to mention in a classroom, 4000$ bucks to teach robotics to kids it's a lot of money for many schools (at least here in Spain). Also, they seem to shorten the life span of their new line of products and cut too many expenses (I really miss the outstanding printed manuals from the 90s-00s era!)

The Mindstorms Inventor app won't install on my Samsung S23 Ultra, because the version of Android on my Samsung is too recent. Why does Lego release a $500 Mindstorms hub set, then 2 years later say "sorry, we're going to stop supporting this soon!" Curses!

Why Spike Prime didn't get Dark Mode? Finally, after Mindstorms 1/2 and EV3, LEGO makes the software on their own. It is big step forward, but they have long trip still ahead...

Hi. Is there anything new in this field? I have some lego Technic sets and I think this is the next step.

Hey is it worth the extra 20 dollars to get the Mindstorms set over spike prime?

the description has a typo. also: the sets are really cool but I like power functions' stackable plugs. do the adapters work here?

By any chance, do you know what is both the running torque and stall torque of the powered up medium motor, the Powered up L motor, and the powered up XL motor, measured in Ncm?

Is it good for engineering students or younger students

judging from previous mindstorms sets I've had, in the rcx there where three I think builds in the instruction with extra digital robot instructions and in nxt only one bot had physical instructions the rest where only digital so the fact that all instructions are digital this time isn't that weird

Spike Prime update on PC with a cable is for teachers and probably 16+ Hubs easier. Instead of connecting and sorting all the hubs on a phone or tablet. Think of all the 16+ randomly numbered hubs in your android/ios Bluetooth manager.
