University Gastroenterology - one of Southern New England’s largest gastroenterology groups - is proud to announce gastroenterologist Breton N. Roussel, MD is joining the practice.
“The strength of our medical staff is vital as we look to strengthen and solidify UGI's position as the local leader in high-quality GI care that is both cutting-edge and cost-effective," Dr. Newton said. "The addition of Dr. Roussel will only serve to increase the calibre of an already world-class team.”
Dr. Roussel is a fellowship-trained gastroenterologist interested in the treatment of all GI diseases, specifically Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. He’s no stranger to Rhode Island, completing both his GI fellowship and his internal medicine residency at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and his undergraduate degree at Providence College. He earned his medical degree at Rutgers University's Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey, where he also earned a masters in biomedical science.
“Many of the mentors and teachers I've worked with while at Brown University are from University Gastroenterology, so I was already familiar with the practice. Not only are the doctors and staff here on the forefront of medicine, they care about their patients, and they care about teaching the next generation of GI doctors like myself,” Dr. Roussel said. “I'm honored to be joining a practice that has built-in mentorship and an unwavering dedication to excellent patient care. I look forward to making connections with my patients and making them feel better for years to come."
Dr. Roussel is currently accepting new patients at the following locations:
University Gastroenterology

Providence, RI 02905
Bristol Medical Center
