Back again discussing the privacy issues with Linux Deepin 20 Beta using their own evidence provided in an EULA.
I noticed the source code was missing to their package deepin-user-experience-daemon. a package which exists in version 20, but not the earlier version 15.

Always a bit weird to me when a EULA says “You’re not allowed to break the law”... That’s not really the responsibility of the EULA... Nothing they can say can overrule the law anyway

Deepin: Linux for Windows users who want to leave Windows but don't want their freedom back.

I just discovered your channel thanks to Colin at PCTLC. Great channel. I installed deepin 20 Beta on top of an Arch base. Afterward while having a look around I found in the settings panel a switch called "deepin user experience". It would not stay toggled off. Then some how it magically and mysteriously disappeared from the settings panel. It really is a shame that deepin has apparently adopted windows philosophies concerning privacy and the end users option to opt out. I do know that deepin is a 'user beware experience'. Thanks for knowing how to investigate this thing and sharing!

If you think there are privacy issues in a Linux distro, you gotta think how bad it is in electronics in China.

Fortunately, American IT companies never spy on their users..

Canonical also has terms and legal agreements for licensing and use of Ubuntu and so do many other Distros 🤷🏻‍♂️ be careful whatever you install on your PC.

Can anyone explain this problem - how is it allowed to put a license on bunch of GPL'd programs?

What about Deepin desktop environment on top of e.g. Ubuntu? Still an issue?

6:40 Something like this shouldn't be heard from the Linux world.

You just forgot to mention one small thing.. That data is collected only if you join the User Experience Program, which is off by default.

From someone who lives in a country that is party ti the Five Eyes global intelligence services architecture to pontificate about software licenses screams of hypocritical attention seeking to me - would I click that license agreement - not necessarily but at least I acknowledge that maintining my privacy is a fools errand on the modern internet today under such conditions.

Didn't Lenovo laptops have spyware on them at one time, one of my suppliers stopped carrying Lenovo's for that reason.

So I had a Deepin Manajro image on a cheap laptop and updated it the other day which gave me the new V20 desktop but in the settings the "share information with UOS" button even if you turned it off would not do anything it would go back to ON. EVEN the Deepin desktop in the Arch repository is broken with a spy bug! This isn't Arch or Manjaro's fault it the V20 desktop environment is broken. Someone should fork the V15 Desktop and move forward with it because it was a far better experience than V20 even if you don't count the spying part.

I believe the is not even open-sourced. Probably the reason you can't find it in the repos.
