When Jawdat Ibrahim won the lottery, he was determined to try and help bring Jews and Arabs closer together. Jawdat and his wife decided to open a restaurant where the two sides can get to know each other.
"Jews and Arabs live alongside each other but never really unite," tells Jawdat. "If Jews are going into the army, their image of Arabs is solely based on what they have seen on TV. They believe they are terrorists". Jawdat wants to find something they can both relate to. "Hummus is something common between both sides. We love the same food, we could live in peace". Although difficult times lie ahead, a hope of peace remains.
