A fair amount of truth here. Look at what happened in Norway...As soon as they were told that by 2035, there would be no more sales of Petrol or Diesel....With the availability of electric, most people dumped the ICE car & started buying Electric. Then, the Govt helped with tax breaks, preferential parking in commercial areas, etc, which sweetened the deal.----Now they are all lining up for BYD etc.

It is obvious that rare earth metals, lithium salts and other EV ingredients are going to be the new oil. There is going to be huge demand for these elements, the need for processing and reliable supply lines. Mean time, Australian government is still backing gas, a commodity with no long term future.

Hei! It's crazy true! We were actually in a car dealer recently, and they now sell mostly EVs only compared to when we were there in 2017 and bought our Plug-in Hybrid. I was inspired by the revisit so I made my own vlog on it. :) No, I am not a tech or car gal, I was just curious how EVs have changed after a couple of years. :)

The 'who sold the most' EV lists are basically meaningless because some/all are supply limited. Someone may want a Brand A but it's not available so they buy a Brand B. That doesn't mean Brand B is 60% as desirable as Brand A. If there were enough Brand As available they might have sold 10x as many as Brand B.

My Q always is: right hand seat (RHS) versions. I fear the market scale will be low vs. left hand seat driving; we'll be stuck with very high cost versions as few manufacturers will want to bother with the small RHS vehicle markets, like the UK and Ireland. These in my mind will be squeezed cost-wise as few Chinese manuf. going after RHS sales. Why bother, when standard LH seat models can be shipped in millions??

I think that Toyota makes the best ICE and hybrid vehicles and have owned a few Toyota’s. However I imagine that many people swore by their horse breeder or buggy whip maker at one time.

My guess is by 2024 / 2025 new ICE car sales will be close to non-existent...seems impossible, doesn't it? There's a multitude of reasons why - mostly ICE manufacturers are NOW facing losses, in a year or 2 it will be clear that with ICE sales plummeting, and no profit possible, they will shrink massively, be taken over, merge or disappear. They will struggle to make a profit on EVs, but that's their only hope, and Tesla is leading with profitability, scale and business model. (Other existing EV makers will survive, like the Chinese.)
