For those of you watching on Publication Day...HAPPY WORLD DIABETES DAY!

Living with this condition is hard...really hard...and I'm in no way trying to undermine that difficulty, but it's given me a lot of positives and taught me a ton of lessons too that are so linked to living with the condition it would be a huge oversight not to acknowledge them.

I also truly believe in acknowledging the positives we can become stronger, more resilient, and can live happier, healthier lives.

Happy Day to you My Fellow Diabuddies
Remember, always, you are not alone 💙

There's also the unexpected practical advantage that we are under advanced medical supervision. I have lots of "healthy" friends that lived with undetected issues like heart disease or liver issues for years, up to a point that could be life threatening. My endo (or the t1d care in my country in general) do regular checkups that can catch issues in advance.

Thanks for the reminder of the positive tings diabetes brings. My mother who was a T1D for 45 years, claimed she was much healthier having diabetes than if she hadn’t had it. Her mind remained sharp right to the end (95) and she even gave her own insulin the first two years she was in the nursing home. She drove (even on our major highways) and lived in our family home until she was 92. Something to aspire to!

When I was diagnosed in 1975, I asked my pediatrician if there would ever come a time when we could test blood sugars at home. He looked very sad, & said "Not in your lifetime."
I am so grateful for my Dexcom - & wish my Father & sister could have access to CGM. Maybe they would still be here. And Andrea - you are amazing! I really needed to be reminded there are positives to living with TP1 - thanks!

Thank you for the video. My son was diagnosed with TD1 less than a month ago on his 13 bday. I cry every day while I see him being so strong going through this. I pray every day for all of you and thank you for the uplifting video. God bless! 🙏

I never really thought about the positives to that extent. I do find it a burden sometimes but on the other hand it's just something I've accepted. I think if i look at my diabetes more positively I won't feel as down when something doesn't go right. Thank you for this.

I was so selfish before I was diagnosed. I also have total empathy for others now too. It's turned my world around. And it's made me have a great appreciation for my life! I totally agree with what you are saying!

Thank you so much for the positivity and encouragement. My 9 year old son Matthew was just diagnosed on 9/11/21 and we still have so much to learn. It has been one of the most challenging times for our family. One of the nurse’s at the hospital told us to take it one day at a time and sometimes one hour at a time. I am so grateful for my son and for the support we’ve had through this. Every day is a gift no matter how hard it might be. Thank you for this uplifting reminder to focus on all the good there is!

So I don’t know how this popped up in my YouTube feed, but I want to thank you for what you’re doing because I needed to watch this and hear those items, I’m 48 years old currently and I’ve had type one diabetes since I was 14 years old, I’ve overcome a lot over the years and not having a bachelors. I was able to become a police officer for a couple years all the while being a diabetic. You hit the nail on the head and that it’s completely hidden and people look at you, and they don’t know really anything, I have to remind my loved ones it’s like working a completely second full-time job and never getting paid for it or acknowledged about it or any benefits from it in the amount of stress it puts on you, keep up the good work!

Thankyou so much Andrea for reminding me after my 48 years of Type 1 Diabetes that I am very fortunate to still be here - and healthy. I probably take this too much for granted. Thanks for your continued inspiration. Diabetes is a great community and you can take credit for being a wonderful source of encouragement for us all.

I’ve thought about how this condition has made me appreciate the strict more healthy choices I take every day. Sometimes I feel resentful and upset, but it’s good to look at the positive. Thanks

The best thing about T1 is that I would never had found your videos on YT without it.
