I'd turned the Dorian mode into the dominant 7th mode on 3 octaves, which sounds really exciting.

Because I hear the normal pentatonic over and over, then this modification sound more interesting. Cheers from Indonesia.

Sounds awesome!!
Actually, the Major Mixolydian modal sweet spot is the Major 6-minor 7. So this is a Minor Pentatonic with a M3 instead of a m3 (R M3 P4 P5 m7).
However, we can also add the Major 6th to bring in more spice! (y)

I can hear a little Warren DeMartini when the licks were played incorporating the "sharp" second.

It's actually just playing the major 3rd in the minor Pentatonic scale...It is essential to grow and broaden your playing.

Great lesson !!

Interesting, it's almost a blues scale but not quite. You can hear it in there though when he runs the whole thing there is a little blues swing to it. Very cool.

Dude... You made me a lil' bit smarter by using the pentatonic in mixolydian, and I can explain... That's have some brazilian 'música nordestina' flavor in it, and I've never realized it. Thank you sir.
