I've been a patient for pretty much all my life but I've started working at the same hospital in the UK this year, the sense of community in my department at least is astounding. There was one part of the induction that stuck with me - that what may be just an innocuous couple hours of a healthcare professional's day can make a lifetime of difference to each and every patient. Sounds pretty obvious but the extra care and kindness from my clinical teams over a decade ago is a big reason why I am proud to call them my colleagues now. Keep up the good fight, you all have done so much for so many :D

Actually it should start with developing a health care system that really works very well for EVERYONE not just those who can afford over-priced insurance or those with wealth. We don't have that yet in the USA. Proof? Look at our outcomes data relative to the rest of the industrialized world. We spend MUCH more and get far less. Does the electorate care? Apparently not otherwise they would organize and vote based on those issues. Instead "They are too easily swayed by superficiality."
