Regardless of how Ishida feels about Tokyo Ghoul, even through all of those stresses he's had to work through, he still crafted a story that many people call a masterpiece.

I loved Tokyo Ghoul so it feels weird to hear that the author seems to dislike it so much. I mean I'm happy he's doing better, but jeez. I think TG meant a lot to his fans

It's just nice to hear from Ishida once in a while. Because we know how much fun he has with Choujin X that he draws on his personal schedule.

Tokyo ghoul has my favorite art style.

It is still one of my favourite manga with one of my favourite antagonists, I just wished the final act wasn’t rushed & we got everything & everyone properly fleshed out but I understand why he did it, still love the series

Tokyo ghouls is top three in my favorites. Knowing all the hurdles he went through I can’t help but wonder what TG would have been like if he had the opportunity to create it like he’s doing with choujin x.

Tokyo Ghoul for me is nothing short of a Masterpice for me in every sense...TG will always be close to heart

It makes a lot of sense. Regardless of having more, less, or the same amount of time, the motivation behind the utilization of it makes all the difference.

Imagine busting an all nighter for a research paper you hate vs busting an all nighter researching a topic you like such as: a new software, recipes, or cars. It's two completely different experiences. One is an eyesore while the other is eye opening, making the Choujin X and Tokyo Ghoul look like light and darkness, respectively, to Ishida

As an Artist myself, being able to Freely do your own Art and Story without the depressing financial/corporate restraints and grind is Peak happiness.
I'm really happy for Sui Ishida, I also wish to be in the same place as he is. I know the climb will be grueling, but hopefully it'll be worth it.

No matter what Ishida says. I still think it’s a masterpiece of a manga, still my personal favorite manga of all time. Tokyo ghoul/Tokyo ghoul Re is such a masterpiece.

As a fellow creative .... u gotta strike when the inspiration hits and then u get lost in it until you hit that wall. Then u gotta wait until it hits again.... I 10000% understand his " sporadic" work ethic.

Even if sensei doesn't think of Tokyo Ghoul as a masterpiece of his magnum opus, I'm still very grateful to him for making this manga and and I'm grateful that I get to read something like this.

I've had a rough time when I was still reading Tokyo Ghoul. To some extent I can relate myself to Kaneki, about everything is suffering since there's horrible events one after the other. However, what inspired me was the panel "It may not be my style, but, live." That panel made me damn emotional and for some reason, gave me a reason or a message to continue.

So sensei, thank you

9:06 I think Choujin X will really only blow up if we get an anime adaptation. At the moment the community is pretty small, only ever heard talk about it on their reddit and some manga recommendation vids. I'd imagine it's because of the schedule (we don't always know when the next chapter is gonna release) and due to the relatively small chapter count (still under 100). I know chainsaw man and jjk were popular before their anime adaptations but I don't know if that will apply to Choujin X

I remember starting Tokyo ghoul when it first started and was startled when it had so many chapters coming out within days of each other. Tokyo ghoul definitely my top 5. Can’t wait to binge read, maybe I’ll read it on my birthday next month. 😂

the fact that this is ishidas first (and untill 2021 only) work is insane. he often makes amazing full page or double page illustrations that convery so much emotion and is full of so much detail. he was learning how to write and make a story as he was making tokyo ghoul. he was 24 when he started tokyo ghoul and managed to make a legendary story even under the intense stress and poor coditions he had to work in

If you ever look back on your yesterday and feel satisfied, there is something wrong. We all dislike our past, just because we could do so much better today.

Refreshing to know how the author actually expresses genuine enjoyment with his works, and it radiates towards his audience.

as crappy is this sounds i feel like ishida being miserable and having all those negative feelings caused tokyo ghoul to take the dark, intercentered story we love. i’m glad ishida is doing well but i don’t think his writing will ever be like tg again

Unrelated but hilarious seeing your editing style like this after years of how it was before

this is called the artist dilemma as an artist creative what ever form it may be for me fashion we tend to look back at our work and call it trash and never our best work we tend to self destruct ourselfs i totally understand how he feels and i do feel that TG was a good series and if he want he can work on a project on his own as a side project to fully show his colours.
