On iPhones you can use your regular camera to read QR codes (at least the newer ones)

At the time when these were made, you could type the code in the redeem code section of your account settings, after verifying it where you did on that website. It would then give you the skin in your locker. This does not work anymore as some of the skins are rare and are now unobtainable. Hope this helped.
