ONE TIME

One eye goes laughing,
one eye goes crying
through the trials and trying of one life
one hand is tied
one step gets behind
in one breath we’re dying

I’ve been waiting for the sun to come up
waiting for the showers to stop
waiting for the penny to drop
one time
and i’ve been standing in a cloud of plans
standing on the shifting sands
hoping for an open hand
one time

If I heard this on radio today and didnt know artist, I would very much think it to be Radiohead. King Crimson are mentors of so many.

I’m in highschool. Year: around 2003 2004. Location: Istanbul. I wake up at 6 to go to school. It’s still dark. Everyone is sleeping. I hear screams of seagulls. I turn on the radio. Radyo Eksen. One Time is playing…

Hauntingly Beautiful.
One eye goes laughing,
One eye goes crying
Through the trials and trying of one life
One hand is tied
One step gets behind
In one breath we're dying

I've been waiting for the sun to come up
Waiting for the showers to stop
Waiting for the penny to drop
One time
And I've been standing in a cloud of plans
Standing on the shifting sands
Hoping for an open hand
One time

Probably the most underrated KC album, it has an unbelievable melancholic and sad atmosphere that i cannot truly describe with words i just love it

I love the sound of the snare as the ticking sound of a mechanical watch.

I don't understand why rock radio stations don't play King Crimson. They're more than happy to keep playing the same Led Zep, Ac/dc, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Metallica, songs but they won't make any room for KC! Does KC owe them any money? Is that why?

Belew always was and always will be one of the greatest musicians of all times...

I realized the other day I have been listening to and living with this song for 20 years. Unbelievable. Every now and then it comes back and gives me focus and comfort. It is a recondite masterpiece for the initiated! Thanks KC.

What an exquisite song; everything about it is beautiful, as if it had floated off one on of Monet's painting and had yet another life of it's own... A masterpiece that never fails to gather me to it, for yet another flight...

Marvelous beautiful melancholic Crim'song.
Maestro Belew is not only a great guitarist but also a great singer-songwriter.

I consider "One Time" a good atmospheric and sad song. Somehow, it brings me some nostalgia feelings, combined with the idea of contemporary human anxieties and fragilities.

Music is quite sacred. Music like this has saved life from annihilation many times. Existence understands.

King Crimson seriously creates some of the most otherworldly atmospheres and soundscapes I’ve heard in music

How is it this only has 38k views? I must have viewed it 38k times.

Another of Crimson's spectacular 'lovey dovey' songs. The ones you play for the girlfriend.

This style of music, whatever it is called is an inspiration to stretch the boundaries of composition.

This is the gateway drug to King Crimson

This is truly timeless. This song is not bound by time. It’s like I could have heard in 1979 or 1985…The words were already there, just waiting to be sung by Adrian Belew.
