Day 100: Lone Star Geyser / CDT Thru-hike 2024

I intend to hike the Continental Divide Trail (CDT) in 2024 and will vlog my experience. Follow me under "Old Man and the CDT."

I am Mike Current, 61-years-old, and retired military. I served for over 30 years in the US Army.

After retirement, I opened two small businesses. But after a few years, I sold both businesses because they were taking time away from pursuing personal goals, like hiking and sailing.

I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in 2020 and Appalachian Trail (AT) in 2022. I vlogged (video journaled) my experiences under "Old Man and the PCT" and "Old Man and the AT", respectively.

I sailed around the Chesapeake Bay in my Tayana 37 sailboat over the summer of 2023 and vlogged the experience under the YouTube channel "Old Man and the Sea."

By now you have founfd Old Faithful is more of a social gathering than a good look at nature. The more remote geysers are the way to celebrate such a milestone as 100 days on trail. Thanks for taking us along.

100 days! You are such an inspiration. Most I have ever done is 12 (Alaska), and the most mileage in one day I have done is 18! (Olympic NP). Really impressive in Yellowstone. I had never even heard of Lone Star geyser.

The Lonestar Geyser sounded like a really big jetboil. Your crew really knows how to enjoy the hike. It’s great to see you hiking with them.

Beautiful features and geology in Yellowstone! The hike to the Lone Star geyser is about 4 miles one way. Nice hike with few people there. You were lucky with your timing!

Morning, Mike. What a great video. Nice to see the views as you hiked. It was also nice to see you all relax together as a tramily. You don't get to spend time together, just relaxing often. Dinner and a show. And quite a show it was. First time I've seen a geyser erupt. Your videos and the CDT have provided me with a lot of firsts. I love it. The timing of the videos works really well with my schedule also. When you're relaxing, it seems to be a time to snack - on and off trail. Good thing you went grocery shopping yesterday. Looking forward to seeing Old Faithful tomorrow. Take care, Mike. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.

100 days and so far north. You’re amazing. Well deserved day of taking it easy in a beautiful place. Yay for getting new shoes. That must have been miserable in the bog

Congratulations on the 100 day mark! Loving your videos and appreciate you sharing. Ross was sad he missed you in the Wind River Range. He took the Knapsack Col alternate going south and saw Logman and Early Bird. Ross is in Colorado now near Steamboat Springs. All of you are doing awesome!

What a wonderful day except for that bog. I’m glad you have found what I bet will become life long friends.
