Maeve was such an elegant presence on GL I just loved her.

She does a spot on impression of Maeve Kinkead’s speech pattern, and their voices are even similar so it’s like actually listening to Maeve herself. Impressive!

Absolutely loved Maeve Kinkead and thank you Douglas Marland for writing such a wonderful character and to the casting director for choosing Maeve. Was in college, think a freshman when Vanessa was introduced and was fascinated by Maeve's wonderful performance. Back in those days you could call up Manhattan directory assistance and say can I have the number of Maeve Kinkead and they would give me a number and then I'd say can I get the address they said "97 Crosby Street" at the time. Of course I never tried calling the number but I was in New York City 2 years later with a friend of mine that lived at Bayshore, Long Island. We were going through all of Manhattan, sightseeing for me as it was my first time there and looked up at one of the street signs and it was Crosby Street. We've got to go to 97 Crosby Street! so we found the building and just stood there in front of it thinking that was where she lived probably. Not sure if it was a permanent residence or it may not even have been a residence it might have been a business office, maybe her agent.

But I digress, Maeve went on maternity leave some time later and they temporarily replaced her with another actress, think her name was Anna Stewart, and of course it was just not the same so I wrote to Maeve at that address 97 Crosby Street. Wrote her a long letter about how wonderful her performance was on Guiding Light and my love for the character of Vanessa. A couple of months later, got the sweetest letter from her and it had an autographed photograph and it was a Kodak paper photograph. It wasn't one of those Xeroxed stock photo signatures. Still have it somewhere in this house.
