Cupcake Decorating Ideas For Beginners | Wilton 1M Piping Tip

A basic cupcake decorating tutorial for a beginner cupcake decorator using the Wilton 1M tip. Shown in this video, are examples of how to make a Classic Swirl, Simple Rose, Ruffle Effect, and Small Flowers. These basic cupcake decorating skills can create beautiful cupcakes for many occasions!

Classic Swirl- Starting in the middle of the cupcake, create one small dot, and then create one long continuous circle. Work your way up and pull the piping bag away.

Simple Rose- Create a small dollop of icing in the middle of the cupcake and from there, create a circle around the outer edge of the cupcake and pull the piping bag off to the side.

Ruffle Effect- Starting in the middle of the cupcake, squeeze the piping bag with moderate pressure to create a ruffle like appearance. These can be short or high, like the one shown here.

Small Flowers- Apply moderate pressure to the piping bag to create a small flower in the middle of the cupcake. Then work your way around the middle flower to create as many flowers as you would like. You can always fill in any empty spaces for a full like appearance.
