Algebra I on Khan Academy: Algebra is the language through which we describe patterns. Think of it as a shorthand, of sorts. As opposed to having to do something over and over again, algebra gives you a simple way to express that repetitive process. It's also seen as a "gatekeeper" subject. Once you achieve an understanding of algebra, the higher-level math subjects become accessible to you. Without it, it's impossible to move forward. It's used by people with lots of different jobs, like carpentry, engineering, and fashion design. In these tutorials, we'll cover a lot of ground. Some of the topics include linear equations, linear inequalities, linear functions, systems of equations, factoring expressions, quadratic expressions, exponents, functions, and ratios.

About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

Yeah but this is not always the case right? I would like to see more difficult examples like with fractions or something

sal, when you stated that a+b was -3+-1 you did not write it down as said, instead you wrote -3+1 which gives -2 and not -4 just thought i would point it out bcs i ended up getting stuck on that part and i thought maybe other people would be confused as well.

2:35 It's supposed to be -3-1 instead of -3+1. For those who may have been confused.

You are the man. I really respect you. You make things so easier so no one still says "I don't understand." Keep the hard work on, you're making great differences in the world.💖

What if you were only given the vertex and y intercept and no equation. How do you graph that? And how do you write the equation of parabola in the form y=a(x-h)^2+k?

Я рускоязычный, но это единственное видео которое дало понять как построить график квадратичной функции🤣

Alright.. how can I sit through 7, 45-50 minute classes and still not know sh about how to graph this thing and he teaches alll of it in less time than it takes to get to that class from the lunch room

I love Sal however at the beginning of his explanation he says that three points determine the graph of a parabola is misleading. If you plug in x = {-1, 0, 1} those points look like they make a straight line, a student who is a just learning about graphing parabolas is not going to be able to determine the shape.

but what do you do when the A variable equals a fraction

What graphing calculator was Sal Khan using in this video? Does anybody know?
