Interesting product.
I supply shades for a large condo complex here in the states.
We use shades that come with steel #10 chain with a bead connector that does not fit through the clutch. I would think that this chain would have to be continuous in order to work with this device.
I like the device in its simplicity and ability to work in various applications. I am meeting with the occupant next week so I can see this in person and learn something. He purchased it and I am curious about it. In window coverings for close to 40 years and have not seen this before.

One thing not mentioned is how you can use it with a metal bead chain that has a connector in the middle to join the two ends. The blind has a sealed cog wheel which the connector cannot pass through. The smart blind device has a cog that the connector also cannot pass through. The length of the chain between both cogs is not enough to fully open and close the blinds and it's already at the lowest part of the window recess. How do you solve that?

So if i want to use it in my Homekit, i have to buy the USB stick? Does the usb has to be placed near the shades? And if its already connected to Homekit, i can control the shades even I’m not in the house?

Soma Smart Shades is a shockingly bad bit of tech. Avoid and go with something more reliable. I’ve had it since it came out and it’s always either stuck or the hubs disconnected and needs restarting which results in Siri saying “the blinds are not responding”. To update the software you have to manually remove the memory card from the hub (raspberry pi) and then put it into a card reader, then download the software manually from their website, then put it on the usb card, put it back in the hub). Here in the UK the solar charger is completely useless. The whole product is so clunky and buggy. Avoid avoid avoid.
