Preparing Your FireTV
First thing we need to do is enable some settings on our device
• Settings - System - Developer Options
• Enable both boxes
• Turn on ADB Debugging
• Apps from Unknown Sources

Next we need to get the IP address off the FireTV
• System - About - Network
• Take a picture or write down the IP Address

Sending/Installing Kodi and Llama to Your FireTV
Now you will need to leave your FireTV running on the network and head over to a PC/Laptop in the house running on the same network.

So we now have everything we need to install Kodi on the FireTV.
The first thing we need to do is extract the FireTV Utility App to your C drive root. It is very important to extract it to C:\ as it will not work if you do not.

When done you will see it on your C drive as “FTV”

Alright so let’s do this… First we need to connect to the FireTV or FireTV stick by using the IP address you got in the earlier step.
In the top left hand corner if the application press File - Settings and enter your IP address, select normal debug mode, and check for updates at start up.
Save and Close.
It will take you back out to the main application where you will press File - Connect. It will open a dos type screen and show you connect successfully.

Now let’s install Kodi/XBMC.
1. Click the “Select” button and find where you downloaded the ARM version of Kodi
• Select the apk file where it shows up in the field next to select
2. Click “Side Load 3rd Party Application”
• It will open a prompt screen and take a couple of min. You will know it is complete when it shows “C:\FTV”

After this completes go ahead and click the “Install Llama” button. This will allow us to launch Kodi from the Amazon home page later. You are done on your PC and the FireTV is now loaded up ready to configure.
Configuring Kodi on your Amazon FireTV
Back on your FireTV let’s go ahead and launch Kodi for the first time. It will initially be location at Settings - Applications - Manage all installed applications

Then at the very bottom you will be able to launch “XBMC” Kodi

Rashad Francisco Make sure you have the adb debugging enabled on the fire tv and that you ahve the correct ip address.  Did you hit file connect after you put in the ip address?

Very informative video. Enjoyed! Is there a way to add shortcuts to the home screen. For example the icefilms plugin? Thanks!

Okay, I just recently received from Amazon last week a brand new fireTV stick, I set the developer options both to the on position and wrote down my devices IP address. At first i tried the latest build of the Amazon Fire TV Utility app (0.38) and the latest Kodi Helix 14.1 Android ARM build, and after connecting to the FTV and selecting the file to side load it says it cannot find the path specified file. So next I tried to using the same version in your video, and I get the same results. What am I missing, I have both the installer and the Kodi file in the same directory at the root of my C; drive.

Set it all up according to instructions, but when I go to home screen and select Classic TV it stays on Classic TV and does not launch Kodi. Is there a solution for this? Condition and Action have been configured appropriately.

Still having no luck, after installing the arm version I went to the fire tv under apps and manage all aps but there is no xbmc. I tried rebooting the fire tv and my router. I also double checked the IP address on the amazon fire unlit and it's ok. What should I try next?

at 3:52 you say "there is a utility that makes this fairly easy.." and the fire utility suddenly appears on your screen. I have no idea how you got there. I grepped the page for "fire" and its not there. ??

I am not showing the XBMC app under the Manage installed Applications. I do show a Kodi which I launched. But it doesn't show the XBMC at all. Any suggestions?

Hi, GREAT video! two things, my fire stick never downloaded xbmc, only kodi, but it appears to do the same thing. 2nd thing, the classic tv fix didn't work for me, I did it several times and even rebooted the firestick without success. I'm stuck at that point now.
