It's so awesome that they finally built the Zwift track in real life.

Alpe d'Huez was my last climb of the Trans Alpe Tour, did it in 1hr 3min. (Full tour was 26 Alpes in 11days) I did at 57 years of age..the hardest tour I've ever done!!

This is a great time and requires very good fitness, much greater than me. I found the start, up to bend six, to be the worst, particularly with a limited warm up. When I looked up to the very top from Bourg car park, I couldn’t believe I had cycled that high. It was a great feeling.

Chapeau to both of you and everyone who has ever successfully done it.

I've a few questions if that's ok? Firstly, I'm thinking of climbing it in early April when I've next got some time off and the weather should be milder.

I have wanted to do it anyway for a while but my mind has been made up through wanting to get sponsored for it to raise some money for the family of a school friend who sadly passed away from cancer just before Christmas. He was in his early 50's like me.

At around 14 and a half stones and about 5 feet 8 inches tall, I am wondering how my physiology is suited for this challenge. I'm a regular commuter to work doing around 40 miles in total Monday to Friday topped off by another 20 usually on Sundays.

I am not too proud to take a fair few breaks on the various bends - plus take some photos on my phone - but I am, of course, wondering how I'll get on and if I can do it naturally.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I love this video, it is my go-to video while riding the rollers on the long cold minus 18C winter days of Toronto, and I can relive my own ascent of Alpe d'Huez at the same time.
What I like most is that there is no music, just the exhausting effort of the climb (I know the feeling), and that you place the camera on the stem so that the bars are visible, it makes it really feel like I am there with you. And one hour on the rollers is just perfect for me, although my ascent took 1 hour 15 minutes (at age 60).
Did your buddy do the entire climb in the same gear? His cadence seemed to always be slower than yours, was his bottom gear not as low as yours? And he seemed less knackered too!
Also, if you are ever in the neighbourhood, I'd like to see you do the Galibier, Ventoux, and Stelvio, with the same setup, just to give me some variety on the rollers, I can't find videos of those climbs that are as good as yours.

I understand you're shocked, you did an awesome job. Marco Pantani set the record 1:37.35 in 1997 during the Tour de France. His time is not comparable to normal riders who rides with out taking doping. Like any other top 3 riders in the mid 1995 he used a lot of EPO, Insuline, Human growth hormone, Anabolic steroids, testorterone blod doping etc. to obtain this kind of "super human" speed. The "Cycling Dane" youtube channel made a video, where the used a electric bicycle to go up to Alpe D'Huez in the same speed as Marco Pantani, and her you see some "crazy speed". Finally I acknowledge you great ride to the top. Very well done and congratulation. 1 hour is an excellent achievement.😀
