Teaching a Miniature Schnauzer puppy the 'Wait' command

This video shows my Miniature Schnauzer puppy, Shelby, learning the 'Wait' command. This video was recorded in 2019, when Shelby was about 16 weeks old.

What's funny is all the people saying it's wrong how he trained his dog. Nooo it's not. He wants his dog to sit and wait until he says to approach the bowl to eat. It wasn't sit training it was feeding training. And that's how I've trained every dog I had . And every person that's every seen feeding time with my dogs say. That's awesome how your dog sits and waits until you put the bowl down for them to eat.

This is probably one of the most hardest commands that they learn. We have a Miniature Schnauzer @ 12 weeks this week. He is still spastic when I put down his food, but getting better

This is fantastic training. I used this to train my now 16week old standard schnauzer, and she learnt pretty quickly. It has been wonderful having her sit and not having to jump all over to get her food. Thanks for sharing this.

My mini schnauzer is 16 weeks too. He is the splitting image of yours. They are very intelligent bread of dog. Doesn’t take long to teach them new commands. Good job.

Mini Schnauzers are characters. Very alert and athletic. Very good on their hind legs. Mine -Rocky- is a little over 3 years old and a joy to have around. The same coloration as yours

I did this with a year old rescue husky dog in steps.
Important to teach eye contact with your dog first.
My dog would jump and knock down the bowl from my hand. So I taught him first with bowl on the chair. Then I took it down to the floor. Some dogs have high food drives. Today after knowing the drill and the feeding hours, he sits waits and can eat beside other dogs.
