2050 is a 3050 with 64 bit memory bus. Damn Nvidia had to save a penny here as well 😂

I'd say spend more on the 3050 if the gpu wattage was higher. A lot of 3050 laptops have higher wattages which means it has higher peak performance. Gotta look up every gaming laptop for info on GPU wattage before buying which is a pain as a consumer.

I think the 6gb 3050 vs the 4050 would be an interesting comparison. Now the 3050 wont be vram limited as much and so it might cover some of the gap

If I remember the 3050 6GB has a narrower memory bus? Still interesting to finally see a 2050 comparison, especially since it’s been making its way to non-gaming devices like the LG gram

Remember that DLSS and ESPECIALLY Frame Generation use VRAM too, since there is where the frames are stored in order to upscale and/or create a new frame. That's why VRAM is more and more important as time goes on.

I bought an acer aspire 5 with an i7-1260p and 2050 (25W) for £700. It’s got nearly twice the performance of an mx550 and about 20% better than the 780m 50w iGPU.

Haha the title baited the gamers and they will now spread stupidity on forums and portals that RTX 2050 performs the same or better while it is still much worse. Most will forget that we are talking about 40W on the RTX 3050, yet few laptops have such low TGP values :/

Depends on VRAM and TGP. If the 3050 has more VRAM, specially for 3D modelling and video editing, you should definitely reconsider this comparison.

I dont feel good to spend 140 Dollars to get an RTX 3050 laptop(because at my place laptops are crazy expensive due to custom duties imposed)
I would wait for Asus and HP to launch
i5-12500H or i5-12450H with RTX 2050 (60-70W)and then would buy it
Because i5-11400H doesnt support ram upgradation to more powerful version like DDR5 and other

I just got myself a jump from Ryzen 5-5600H/16gb DDR4 3200Mhz RAM/GTX 1650 to i5 12450H/16GB DDR5 4800Mhz RAM / RTX 2050 for a good price (around 750 bucks), most computers I were able to find for the price range offered 3050 but with the other specs being the same as previous computer in terms of CPU and RAM and still, more expensive than the one I got (850-920 dollars depending on brand), thank you for this informative video, your research helped me out into choosing!

looking at this in Nov 2023, currently there's a $100 for the 3050 laptops vs one with a you for proving to myself and other potential buyers that it's better to redirect that $100 for something like more memory or storage than spend the extra for an ~4% difference in gaming performance
