Had a roommate from Oklahoma. One time he started telling me a story about how back home, "There were 4 or 5 Spanish guys hanging out outside of a gas station". I tried to confirm that they were Spanish. He insisted. I asked if they might have been Mexican. He acted like I said the N-word with a HARD R. He said they might have been from Mexico but that they were Spanish. I told him that isn't how it works and that "Mexican" is not a racial slur. He agreed to disagree.
