The lecture briefly described the different bone sarcoma types and the role of radiotherapy in each one. Highlighted some considerations specific for the pediatric cases, attention to bone sarcomas at the base of skull because they pose a particular challenge of combining the need for high radiation dose close to critical organs.

Akmal Safwat, MD, PhD – Speaker
Born in Egypt and graduated from Medical School of Cairo University in 1983. Got a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Radiation Oncology in 1988, and a PhD in 1995. Currently working as Consultant Radiation Oncologist in the Danish Centre for Particle Therapy treating Pediatric and adult patients with Sarcoma and lymphoma. Has been lead of sarcoma team in the Oncology Department of Aarhus University Hospital between 2007 and 2022. Previous chairman of the Scandinavian Sarcoma Group (SSG. Has 89 peer reviewed articles, and 2 book chapters.
