Lots of "experts" here. Probably going to get all the hate but here goes:
1) yes the foam is supposed to be that thick. It'll eventually run down as it is supposed to.
2) it's pink. Gimmick? Possibly. But it will definitely help with white cars. White foam on white car, you could easily miss a spot.
3) purely just foam washing only works with well maintained cars. You need a follow up contact wash if the car is dirty. This video is showing just foam wash, so the car used is a good example.
4) Rinsing from bottom-up. Ensures that the pressured water knocks off the foam with dirt. Top to bottom will allow water to run down, which diluted the foam as it goes. Dirt might be left behind as the foam is removed by the running water. Many other reasons to this, look it up. Bear in mind there is no follow up contact wash to this.
5) Finally.. If you don't understand foam wash enough. Just don't do it. You're wasting time, money, and effort.

Why do the wash from bottom to top, why not top to bottom
