This was an aspect of the battle at Chattanooga that I had never really studied before. Thank you so much for sharing!

Love your vids man. I grew up in western MD very close to the Sharpsburg Battlefield and 40 mins from Gettysburg so this stuff has been in my blood my whole life. The way you present this material is amazing. This is without question my favorite historu channel. Thank you for what you do.

Your video makes clear & adds to my understanding. Sometimes it is not as easy to follow reading it in a book. I love your channel and look forward to each new video.

Awesome video. I had family at Chickamauga in the 58th NC. One of my ancestors defected shortly before the battle.

You sound like a Reb! Good description of confused action. I’m a collateral descendant of Brig. Gen. William Haynes Lytle who was killed here.

I did not know this I visited the battlefield in May and was under the impression that the Federals got rolled up easily, I didnt know they were able to give some back.

Another great episode! BTW, aside from your "accent" I know you are a Southerner because you pronounce Lafayette correctly.

I think it was Sam Watkins who coined the phrase for western war as 'a side show of the big how'. If you are the one doing the fighting what is in front of you IS the big show. Many lower level commanders displayed martial skills every bit as effective as their leaders.

Thank you for a history lessons. Much nicer than listening to all the political crap going on. I think all the civil war soldiers would turn over in their graves if they saw today's America. Maybe not? It was pretty bad back in 1864 too.

Golly, so easy to lose sight of the fact that in their madness the Confederates aimed to destroy the Union their own forebears had so heroically fought and died to bring to life. All their military brilliance, the staggering sacrifice of the citizenry...for such a dreadful and senseless 'cause, ' I'm from N.C., my people were in Confederate army.
