Martinez, Kamara, Mings, Konsa and Watkins all walk in to the first XI. Add Felix/ Diabys replacement and that is more than half a team. Start the season with 4/6 of those (Mings and Kamara later), and gradually introduce more of the new blood and we should be OK. If we can improve on Dendonker, Carlos, Archer and shift Duran and one of Moreno/ Digne, squad might look quite different to how it does at the moment. Still time to go, but West Ham first game will be a big test, they're going for it thisxseason.

When I said that all of Aston Villa's signings were mediocre, the fans attacked me. We lost Douglaz Luiz, the backbone of our team, and one of our biggest deficits in the last two seasons was the high number of goals we conceded, as well as the ease with which rival teams were able to get one-on-one with Dibu Martinez. However, all the signings that have arrived were "projections for the future" or "investments", but they are not the kind of signings for a team that is about to compete in a UCL after 40 years. If you look at all the UCL matches of the eight new signings (Maatsen, Onana, Barrenechea, Barkley; Philogene; Illing; Dobbing and Archer) the most experienced are Maatsen (7) and Onana (8) and these numbers are very low. On the other hand, Philogene, Barrenechea, Illing, Dobbing and Archer have 1 or 0 games experience in UCL.

We urgently need a world-class centre-back and a midfielder.

Villa top brass!, please 🙏 don’t entertain taking a less than full squad over to the states again, especially when trying to “apparently” sell the brand!. Pre-season is for testing and by going to the States you’ve subsequently made half the online fan base “concerned” over non important results whilst also not making a good account of us over there!. Emi, Konsa and Watkins are vital if taking games seriously, Unai himself looks annoyed he’s having to give post match pressers after friendly games and having to vindicate himself for the losses he couldn’t care less about!!! GK backing off in a 1on1 is madness, especially when they've trained with Dibu. They should know to get close and make themself as wide as possible.

You guys know that the point of the PSR cup is working out which players we are happy to let go. It also gives new signings live ammunition practice with Emery’s system; which is vital for Onana and Barkley. The results really don’t matter much beyond the vibes.

People need to chill 😂 it's pre season and half the team was changed at halftime where it was 0-0 and we hit the woodwork twice and played the second half with a midfielder and left back at centre half, we're missing our gk, best cb and best striker. We looked better than the previous 2 games and the next 2 games will tell us where we're at against Bilbao and Dortmund...yes bad performances and losses in those games I'd start to worry a bit but I don't think that'd going to happen personally

Didn't watch the full game and its easy to get carried away with results, but pre season is just an opportunity for the bew squad to gel. Based of what ive seen in these highlights, im still incredibly hopeful and optimistic for the season. UTV!
