I am surprised that, with all the tutorials on simple windows that are out there, the following simple question is never answered:


You create your JFrame and are displaying it on the screen. You have a class that extends JFrame and you end the constructor with setVisible(true); You then set up a main() function to instantiate a new instance of the class.


Fine. You run the program. Your JFrame displays.


Now you want to update the contents of the window--erase a picture and draw a new one (primitive motion).


What is the name of the routine that needs to be overridden? What does a standard JFrame program cycle through as the window you've set up is visible on the screen?
