Filmed at "Tanks, Trucks & Firepower" Show yesterday (30th Aug 2020)

Unusual to see an armoured vehicle being driven "Closed Down" ie with the driver hatch closed and driving by looking through a small periscope...... but... when you see the video then you can see why 😜

The FV101 Scorpion is a British armoured reconnaissance vehicle. It was the lead vehicle and the fire support type in the Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked), CVR(T), family of seven armoured vehicles. Manufactured by Alvis, it was introduced into service with the British Army in 1973 and was withdrawn in 1994. More than 3,000 were produced and used as a reconnaissance vehicle or a light tank. It holds the Guinness world record for the fastest production tank; recorded doing 82.23 km/h (51.10 mph) at the QinetiQ vehicle test track, Chertsey, Surrey, on 26 January 2002.

Sept. 6, 2020----For some reason, I was having a flash back when that car was pulling that trailer while the car had it's rear hatch flopping around like it was. I was thinking of the Tom Cruise movie Live. Die. Repeat. And yep, think I got every one of your videos downloaded on its restoration. Thanks for this and all those other videos you've taken the time to post.

Hey how comes this event wasn't cancelled because of social distancing?
Also, was there any car crushing at this year's show? Thanks.

I just Imagine Richard Hammond going to bed in that caravan moments before Jeremey flies around the corner in the scorpion.

Just for clarification... this is NOT a tank, it is part of the CVR(T) range of combat vehicles and it is an armoured reconnaissance vehicle, with the emphasis on 'reconnaissance'. They are small, therefore easily hidden, light, air transportable, very mobile, and very fast for an armoured vehicle, up to 70mph. (I blew an engine at 68mph on an autobahn while serving in Germany in the early 80s... OOPS!)
The 76mm main gun and the 7.62mm co-axially mounted machine gun are for defence, not attack.
Tanks are armoured fighting vehicles, with the emphasis on 'fighting'. very much larger, much heavier and much slower. Usually having a much larger caliber gun, used for attacking the enemy.
In June 1975 I passed my driving test in a Scorpion, the very first thing I learned to drive. Group H on a driving license which meant I wasn't allowed to drive cars!
They are great vehicle to drive, especially cross country.
