What I like about Paraguay is that it is conservative, old school values. Paraguay is not overrun with sexpats and pedophiles like Colombia is for a reason! A quiet life is what you get in Paraguay, some even say boring. I will take boring over the alternative that is happening in Colombia and Brazil!!

I just made it through my first summer in PY. It was HOT. We are ready for fall, winter, and spring weather. If you are moving from the west, get used to not having hundreds of small things you are used to. No Amazon delivery. Just about every item in the grocery store is different. There are very few American brands in the grocery store, but the food is not filled with chemicals. Banking is challenging. The roads are crazy, and stop signs are "suggestion signs". You must speak Spanish to survive. One should consider what is important to you before moving. Getting residency in Paraguay is fast and easy. I never feel unsafe. Restaurants, shopping, and grocery stores are abundant. Life is very affordable in Paraguay. Uber is very cheap, but I did buy a new car. Having a vehicle in PY will change your life. The women are beautiful. I am renting a lovely 6 BR/6BA home in Asunción for $3K USD per month. I have seven AC units in my house. I am still debating year-round living. I plan to spend some time in Paraguay and some time in Europe. I am giving Asunción a full year before deciding to stay full-time. Make a trip to PY and determine if Paraguay is your plan A or B.

I return there in april after a first visit in February.I also went to Argentina/ Buenos Aires. Well, you don t compare Asuncion and Buenos Aires! But.. i ll return to Asuncion, not Buenos Aires this time. I was surprised to see that the cost of life is just more in Buenos Aires than in some EU countries. Crisis there and high taxes. In the other hand, Asuncion was inexpensive, very quiet and that s true that people are nice there!

Do you have any influence with the government there? If so you might recommend they look at what Cambodia does with their 55+ retirement visa. Cut out the red tape. I'd definitely consider Paraguay if they did that.
