The State Fire Marshal is investigating a hazmat situation that killed several pet birds. Investigators say they checked for carbon monoxide and other gases in this Joseph Lane house - but didn't find anything out of the ordinary. No people inside were impacted.

How many birds? What kind? When were they last seen alive? "Investigative" journalism please, anyone with a scanner or Facebook could get this info

It's probably PTFE fumes, teflon toxicity. Birds are very susceptible to overheated "stickproof" pans coated in teflon. If you keep birds as pets you shouldn't use teflon coated pans.
