Most people may disagree, but every single time Coldplay has a new album, I embrace it! Because I love them as a band and how they make me feel. They can go from one sound to another, but they still allow me to feel and that's what I love about them. I applaud them for putting out albums that resonate with them and their passion, they want to put out the happiest album/song in the world and that's honestly what this world needs, happiness in the midst of so much tragedy. When I first heard Coldplay their music resonated with me and to this day it still does, because I have grown with them and I'm not "depressed" any more, so now when I go back and listen to their first few albums, I have a different perspective then I did when I first heard them, because I've changed for the better and I will embrace that always. Whoever wants to stay in a standstill with their life, that's fine, but don't expect others(such as Coldplay) to do so with you. People grow, not necessarily change.

For those of you acting shocked after listening to this, Coldplay has not been a legitimate rock band for years and Chris Martin even recently admitted it. Every Coldplay album is different. This is not a surprise, so stop acting like this is news and open your mind to something new or don't listen to Coldplay.

A Head Full of Dreams sounds like it's going to be the typical Coldplay anthem cheery song.
I can see Hymn For The Weekend being a radio song.
Everglow sounds beautiful.
Army of One has a paradise like vibe to it.
Amazing Day is just... Amazing.
And Up&Up has the potential to be the best song on the album. (If you heard them play it live, then you'd understand)

I miss when their music was sad and less pop-ish. The beginning of fun is a good example of the style I was hoping the whole album would utilize. Parachutes was the best album ever in my opinion.

I love "old" Coldplay. I also love this Coldplay I am listening to. One important reason that I stick with this band for such a long time is because of its creativity. They always surprise me, and I love to be surprised.

People fussing over the whole “old Coldplay/new Coldplay” debate is so pointless since literally all music they’ve come up with over the past 2 decades has been unique. Every song in every album has been different from its predecessor and every album like so. People change drastically from time to time as they go through different phases and experiences in life and so does the way they choose to express themselves; through their musical style in Coldplay’s case. Diversity in terms of content is something that should be appreciated since there’s continuously shifting of styles; having to start from scratch every time; moreover trying so hard creating music that fans will actually enjoy. People giving artists like Taylor Swift BS for sticking to her usual style and writing the same type of music yet can’t tolerate it when artists like Coldplay experiment with their work. Grow, up, please, or embrace the statement of “always staying a certain way” by eating baby food for the rest of your life. Peace.

I don't know why people say Coldplay has changed. Yes, their sound has changed in each album, but that emotion and beautiful lyrics is still there with every album. In fact, changing up their sound but keeping the meaning says how awesome and versatile they are.
