Ours is very similar. TickTalk watch or Gabb watch in upper elementary/middle school. We just got our 8th grader a Pinwheel phone that he has limited access to for connection with friends and when he is away from home for an activity. It does not have internet access and all apps are chosen by parents. All conversations are visible through parent app as well as location of phone. It’s working very well for us!

Bro you really like the cell phone. It’s hard to have kids now . Where to draw the line. Your probably right that it’s better for them not to use them but they may resent you for that cause all there friends do . Humans didn’t evolve at the same rate as tech and the consequences aren’t clear yet. I’m sure as a child psychologist you’ve seen some kids that had social media play with there minds …. There may be some disorders that haven’t even been named yet that will come from technology use on the brain wether developing or not. It high jacks dopamine circuits like a slot machine.
