He rarely flubbed a line, and when he did he easily saved it.

My old boss used to sing with him on the Jackie Gleason show in Miami, when she was young. She said after every show, there would be a bouquet of flowers for each lady in their dressing rooms. She said he was great.

Im getting a little sick of these shorts saying the worst about long dead celebrities who are not here to defend themselves but do have living heirs who could easily be hurt by this tripe.
Audrey Meadows wrote a book about Mr Gleason. It was unsentimental and tastefully written about a human being with foibles who gifted the world with a lot of laughter.
She actually knew him. But because some millennial youtuber says differrent it must be true

I love the second hand knowledge that she heard about him then passes it on like she was there.

The Honeymooners is such a simple and dated sitcom but still one of the funniest things i've ever watched. Their performances are amazing

He may have been a party animal but he was a genius in comedy and serious roles. In an interview not long before he passed, he said he never had any negative effects from drinking and he really enjoyed it.

Charlie Chaplin hugged Gleason backstage and said, "You're good!" Gleason WAS good! He was a fantastic comedian, but could do pathos like no other.

You do realize in the late forties he became one of the kings of the Manhattan comedy clubs.

He'd have been run out of town if all he was doing was going around stealing everybody else's stuff.

Gleason was funny. He honed his craft for years before the Honeymooners.

Carney Meadows and Randolph said Jackie liked not rehearsing to keep the show spontaneous. They could handle it.

I don't care what anyone says. To me he will always be the Great One. He has brightened my days for many years. I won't analyze his personality. I will always love him and all the Honeymooner's cast. R.I.P. Joyce Randolf. We will ALWAYS remember you as "Trixie!" ❤

Gleason constantly said Art Carney was the best he ever saw. He always praised art, and wouldn't do the show without him. I smell BS

If you've watched The Honeymooners you'll know that he didn't flub his lines anymore than anyone else on the set. I believe you're only seeing a single take whenever you watch a scene of the show, in the audience laughter is all real. It's not like Big bang theory where you're watching four or five takes all cut together

I grew up in NJ in the 70s. The Honeymooners came on after the reruns of The Odd Couple on channel 11. I had a black and white portable TV in my room. I would get pissed off if the Yankees had a rain delay or went into extra innings!

Jackie was a legend. Shame on you for smearing him long after his death.

Gleason was a huge talent. Didn't have to be perfect, and he surely wasn't, but still super talented. The guy was the inspiration for Fred Flintstone.

As the kid of a Silent Gen Dad & Baby Boomer Mom (yes, 19yrs age difference, blah blah, how weird...) Jackie Gleason was a household name, BUT even as a young elementary kid, I knew on sight that he was a tortured man who spread his pain on unsuspecting people. You can FEEL it through the screen and across decades. Chills to the bone marrow.
