Why are young people leaving Manitoba?

An extensive research project has been launched in Manitoba, looking into the reasons why young people don’t want to put down their roots in the province. Alex Karpa reports.

Taxes took 51% of my recent back pay raise. That's too much and it's a struggle to get by on what's left. I think some people leave after spending one winter here. They don't want this for the rest of their lives, six months of snow, ice and cold.

Good job opportunities are limited, crime rates are high in most of the urban areas, winters are brutal, summer bugs are equally as brutal. What's not to love.

Simple fix pay more drop taxes but Canada does not want to do that. Young people need to leave Canada in the future or your going to pay more taxes so boomers could get there CPP. While you won't get it and you won't be able to buy a house. Canada is finished. All because taxes, wages, greedy landlords and bad lending practices from the banks.

I live on the Coast of Southern BC. Just reading comments of people shitting on Manitoba. Like Bdee3126 in the comments. I’d take anyone from Manitoba any day over Alberta. I find people from Manitoba/ Saskatchewan as well the Maritimes friendly, laid back and FRIENDLY. As well as hilariously funny. I’d say Alberta stay out of BC but I’m not a piece of SH*t douchbag that probably drives a dirty white dually pickup truck that’s like every second vehicle in Okanagan and the lower mainland. I’m just not that kinda person.

sales tax, our country has one of the highest tax and this is why it is worse than communism. you cannot be rich and young people are hopeless.... i know the government needs money for old people, health care, natives for their drugs and of course the politicians to pocket these money. but just do businesses with other countries rather than getting money from us. this is hopefulless and make people lazy because when we work different jobs and get more education and make more money, we get taxed more and ALOT. this is why people here are so get it?
