I spent over a year working on the VFX of this movie and it was very rewarding. It's a shame that it didn't really connect with audiences though.

Tom Cruise can do no wrong. Except for the scientology stuff obviously. What a legend.

This and "Edge of Tomorrow" are the 2 Cruise films that got me back into being a fan of his.

This movie is criminally underrated in so many ways... and I would call it a "sci-fi classic" already... but that's just me. The soundtrack is top shelf as well.

I saw oblivion years ago and couldn't understand why it wasn't wildly popular. It's everything a great sci-fi story is supposed to be plus has all the hallmarks that make a sci-fi movie fantastic. Seriously underrated movie.

Oblivion has become one of my all-time favorite sci-fi films in recent history. Such a unique story, different look and feel that other films have never done before. Plus the soundtrack by M83 is top notch and really heightens this wonderful movie.

There are a lot of "forgotten films" from "long ago" that are better than the new remakes. Please keep reminding me what they are and that they exist.
Everyone have a wonderful day.

I actually love this film. Love the craft, the ideas, the style, the world, the tone…. Thanks for focusing on it.

The biggest problem, was the trailer gave up the plot twist.

Underrated is right! I have no idea why this wasn't more popular. I loved it! (Especially great in 4k)

Oblivion is one of my favourite movies. everything from the effects, characters, story and soundtrack are just amazing. It is one of those movies I have watched over a dozen times since its released. I would highly recommend anyone who hasn't seen it give it a chance.

When your dad is a Tom Cruise fan, you get to watch his movies over and over again. And I can tell you that Oblivion is a fantastic movie. Well, Tom Cruise pretty much only makes awesome movies.

This movie is great in my opinion for two reasons:
1.) the philosophical questions it attempts to ask about, “What is reality?”, or “Do people want to know the truth?” are important questions to think about and I even showed this movie to one of my high school classes when we were discussing Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave”, and the kids were enthralled in the story and were totally shocked when they discovered the twist of the movie. It led to great classroom discussions about do people really want to know the truth, or do most of us prefer the comfort of ignorance?
2.) my favorite band is M83. I saw them in concert in 2016 and they are able to transport me to amazing places with their music. Their soundtrack is breathtaking and enhances the story greatly.

The movie is good at what it does and I made my wife watch it and she is not a fan of Sci-fi, but she even admitted she enjoyed the film. Enjoy!

Oblivion with Dredd (2012) are one of the best underrated sci-fi movies imo.

The soundtrack by M83 is one of my all-time favorites. Their collaboration with the vocalist Susanne Sundfør on the titular song is a standout, in particular.

Cruse is one of the only people I know who will do scifi films that aren't already a franchise. And they tend to be okay to fairly good. Oblivion and Edge of Tomorrow were great. 2013/14 were great years for scifi

The characterisation of Victoria was great. All throughout the movie you could see her deference to rules and authority and her preference for the status quo. This almost painted Victoria as childlike in her trust of the ultimate authority of Sally, which was ultimately her undoing.

For me, this was a bigger tragedy - that she had done everything she thought was right and in the end she was killed for it. It was particularly heart breaking when she realised she was wrong just before she is going to die and she appeals to Jack, in the same childlike way, but he can't save her.

This is my favorite kind of sci-fi. Mysterious conflict with the characters and has the viewer and protagonist wondering, “What is out there?”

It’s great to see this movie receive some well-deserved appreciation after all these years. The Drinker made a recommendation video for it not too long ago.
