Squier Bullet Stratocaster Demo

A review of the Squier Bullet Stratocaster with Damon from Fender.

This is an entry-level affordable guitar suitable for beginners and novices or students, Squier are the sister company to Fender - one of the most famous guitar manufacturers in the world, so the combination of the credible quality reputation of Fender and the affordability of Squier was always going to be a winner ...

The Squier Bullet is based on the shape of perhaps Fender's most famous model of guitar - the Stratocaster. The body shape emulates the Stratocaster - albeit with a slightly slimmer (42mm) profile, and is made from Basswood-a sustainable wood type used on many popular brands of guitar. The bolt-on neck uses Maple capped with a Rosewood fret-board with inlaid Pearloid dots for fret orientation whilst at the top of the neck is a traditional Stratocaster headstock with die-cast chrome machine heads ...

Sound comes courtesy of 3 single coil Stratocaster-type pick-ups and these are managed via 2 x Tone and 1 x Volume knobs along with a 5-position blade style pick-up selector switch. The bridge boasts individual die-cast chrome saddles which can be raised or lowered to suit the playing technique and there's also a Vintage style synchronised tremolo system.

The cost of this guitar won't break the bank and the quality is of a sufficient level that it makes playing this guitar a pleasure. For parents who are looking at the Squier Bullet as a Christmas or birthday gift for budding young wannabee musicians in the family but don't want to shell out a huge amount, then I would suggest that this may be one of the most suitable choices ... The Squier Bullet comes in a variety of colours, check out our full range instore or online

Backing track was from a preset from a Fender G Dec 30 Blues version...

To complete a starter package, you'll need an amplifier, strap, lead, plectrums a tuition book and possible a carry gigbag or stand. There are many amps to choose from such from but the most popular are.... Fender Mustang range, Marshall MG range, Line 6 Spider's, Vox VT's, Roland Cube's and Orange Crush. Something around 10 to 15 watts will be fine for a first home amp and if it has some sounds and effects built in that would be even better.

I don't know why so much shit thrown at this guitar. I am playing collaboratively with a friend who uses this, and im using an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Black, and our recordings are too great even though this piece of Fender is cheaper than its toys.

Honestly, this is not a bad guitar not only for beginners, but also for those levels just a bit above it. All you need is some good equipment to turn your "good" into "great". Rock on, lads.

I've been playing for 6 years, and I decided to pick up one of these for fun, and I love it.  These guitars get a very bad rap, probably most people hear beginners playing them.  The truth is that they're not really that different than regular Fender.  Yeah, maybe a the bodies are made of more than 2 pieces of wood (and not ash) and the tuners aren't as stable as Fender's, but it still has Fender style pickups and a one-piece neck.  My only real complaint is that Fenders definitely feel better.  Fender necks are slightly thicker and lacquered and the bodies are significantly heavier.  Squiers feel like toys compared to Fenders.

I adjusted intonation, string height, put on new strings and it sounds and plays great. Sounds as good as my American Standard Strat. I could play this guitar anywhere. The key is perfect set up.

Just goes to show a good player like this guy can make any guitar/amp set up sound good!

Why does it have to be a student guitar like everyone says? I think it would suit any guitar players on a budget wanting a strat.

"Student?" Oi, piss off, I'm a jazz musician and my Bullet Strat stacks up against American Strats that I've played. Love her.

I bought one 3 years ago, a white Hss at 135 Eu, just for fun . I have a mexican one, a Japan 1967 strat copy, an US 50 e aniversary, an Us Tele natural ash body, and others. Thes Bullet is incredible, light ( body thickness 40 mm, compared to 45, 6 mm Us and std models) the neck is very good, the sound is different to Us models but punchy and good.

Great review and looks like a well stocked guitar store. Maybe one of these days I'll make it over there. I just bought one of these in the same brown sunburst color - now all I need to do is be able to play like you! Thanks for your time and the review. Phoenix, Arizona.

This sounds like the perfect guitar that I've been looking for! Your review of this was the best one I've seen by far. You really gave us the many options of sound this guitar has. I'm about to purchase this very one from Guitar Center. Thanks :D.

I own a Squier Strat and it works perfectly fine. As long as you have a good set of strings and a good amp, you'll get a good sound out of it. Most people that I know agree that it's pretty functional.

I sold my guitar and amp when I switched to bass, many years ago. But I missed not having a guitar around, so I bought a Squier Bullet Strat, about 6 years ago. And I'm glad I did! I'm impressed by the build quality and great sound. It feels solid, plays like a charm and stays in tune, perfectly. Only thing I noticed is that  the sound switch/lever seems to be a little 'sensitive' these days. But that's just a minor thing. It's served me well for 6 years and I would recommend this guitar to anybody, although I like the Classic Vibe and Vintage Modified Squiers even better. Anyway, don't let anyone fool ya, a Fender Strat may be one of the best guitars you can get, but I say Squier is Fender's best kept secret when it comes to great guitars for ridiculously low prices! Get one! : )

I have a cream one with a black scratch plate and tony burns pickups and new pots, sounds better than any of the other fender guitars I've played and it was a lot cheaper, I'd definitely recommend this! And it plays wonderfully too

The new Squier standard has a 2point trem. That is pretty sweet. Buy a roller string guide, add a spring to the trem, set it proper and it will stay in tune very well.

I have one of these, and while it's not my favorite guitar, it has done me justice. My main problem is the tremolo goes out of tune when I use the vibrato bar. I play The Offspring and music of that type, so I don't think it's really meant for music like that but I still like it.
