Solitaire

Her name is loneliness
She dwells inside my soul
Feeding off my insecurities.
Stalking me with despair
Like the stalker stalks his victim.
Living within my hollow shell
Filling me with desolation.
Hunting me with sandpaper arms
Eroding my confidence and defenses.
Swooping down on me
Clutching me in her claustrophobic grip.
Her name is loneliness
She is the friendless child
Waiting for me in the dark corners of my thoughts.

I witness the passage of time
Ever fasting
Always prime
Unaffected for loss and pain
Laughter, sorrow it all disdains
'Cause Time is gone before arrival
Leaving bitterness once sublime
Shores of pleasure ever fading
Keep replacing green with grey
Joy and hesitantly try
Naught has made it stroll it's pace
Like a wind that sends the soul
Onto dreams of rouse and grace
It will sails us all to rest
Find the land where we must stay
Once we stop being it's slave
We no longer need it's race

A Psalm of Life

Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,

Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
