How to Install Brushes in GIMP (+ Best FREE GIMP Brushes)

you can also set up folders within your brushes folder. then you can then select subsets of brushes to display with the drop down at the top of the Brushes dialog. :)

Hi, I can't download the first brush set. When I press refresh arror on Brush window, Gimp gives me the below error:

Failed to load data:

Error loading Unable to decode abr format version 10.

How to solve it?

Thank you! For some reason Krita can't load newer photoshop brushes but Gimp can. Gimp may have found a new use in my tools.

I downloaded the brushes but gimp won't let me select the bin folder on the right after I open up preferences, does anyone know whey?

This does not work for me. I have tried over and over, gimp is not reading abr files in the user path? i have lost all my brush use now. i dont know how to fix them. it gives this error:
Error loading 'C:\Program Files\GIMP Unable to decode abr format version 5.

on a user forum he said this works for him and yet it does not for me. Its not rocket science to move a file to the roaming brushes under user. Its there. yet nothing. I also have it under programs too, and then i have some just in files under c where i can / er could change the file names before opening gimp and use subsets, as its faster loading. my system is old win 10 the very latest edition as im on the test routine. Its been about 3 months since i have been able to use them, my gimp is 10.20 now and yeah they dont work. I tried to find gimp brushes but everyone pst photoshop brushes for them.. ok i doubt you will read this, im sure you are a busy person, but i can alway hope ;)
