“He is getting overtaken by Mazepin on inter”…this sentence is brutal for any F1 driver

The trust between a driver and team is on full display here

The turning point here is the "SHUT UP" from Lando, you can't expect the race engineer to be confident in giving orders after that, Lewis was calm never shouted so for Bono it wasn't a problem to force Lewis into the pits

This video is a boon to Indians who lost coverage from lap 49 onwards. The broadcast was interrupted to play an IPL cricket match. Imagine missing the end of this masterpiece. 😭

I'm a red bull fan, but man Bono is such an excellent engineer. He's so calm and precise.

Bono is always calm in these kinda situations. Remember when Lewis lost his left front tire in the last lap, max behind?! Awesome understanding and communication between Lewis and Bono.

Engineer: He is getting overtaken by Mazepin on inters.
Lewis: Ok, it's over, we got this...

The difference in communication is insane. Lando cuts his communication in stress, while Hamilton and Bono still talk.
When Lewis is informed he can pit, and stay ahead of Max, he decides that finishing on top of Max is more important than risking a crash, which would be big blow against his title chances, meanwhile, Norris is unwilling to let go of a first time 1st place finish over a much more secure 2nd-3rd finish.

A big differentiator between Lewis and Lando's outcome in this race was communication. There is a clear ease between Lewis and his engineer. Lando on the other hand was always SO very HARSH with his engineer. The guy's voice seemed to tremble every time he came on to give a new piece of information. I think Lando was a little too greedy and got blinded by the possibility of victory shutting

I’m blown away by how calm and almost amicable Lewis is during such a high stress point of the race.

'Norris has been overtaken by Mazepin on inters' is all Hamilton needed to hear

The funny thing is: I expected Lewis to stay out.
But Bono played it classy. Lewis was told: Bottas pitted, verxtappen pitted, Norris may have pitted! That sealed the deal.
In this instance, the team had to convince the drivers because there was only 4 laps to go.
And somehow I don’t feel bad for Norris. He didn’t give his team a chance to convince him. He literally shut them down.

More than driving experience, which is key for sure, what this shows is the difference on team engineering mentality. One side asserts to his driver, a multiple world champ at that, that he must pit. On the other hand, McLaren run with his driver on track feeling until it was too late. Certainly room for growth for Lando and the team.

The difference was totally about experience. Also Bono was very assertive and precise.

The difference of experience in these exchanges is brutal. Long way to go Lando

As much as we are bored seeing Lewis win, wins like these show why him and Mercedes have won all those titles. In critical situations they usually come up with the best decisions, excepting a few.

Starting to rain, getting slippery, in the lead and Lewis Hamilton just behind you, terrifying...😵

The difference between engineers is clear, but still Norris was a bit childish with the emotions.
I'm sure he will learn from this and come back stronger!! Go Lando!
