3x LEGO City Bridges IMPROVED!

In this video, I rip apart 3 bridges in the LEGO city and make them BETTER! Not too long ago I made an archway under the train/boardwalk/road that connected the ocean to the canal... today I rebuilt them! Now all three bridges go up 6 bricks and the arches span 14 studs rather than 8 rather than 3. The boardwalk has a nice arched bridge that was built using cylinders and profile bricks. The train bridge has new support walls that cover the grade. The road had an increase in grade/length, a new sidewalk, and a bike lane. Another exciting day in the LEGO city!

Don’t be upset by any comments suggesting other things you could have done. I think there’s some great suggestions here about drawbridges and there’s various types that you could build if you want to. Seeing the progress is great and it’s all content for YouTube when you have to rebuild/improve things! You have plenty to work on and if you finish the whole city too quickly you’ll just have to move to an even bigger place. Take your time and build what you enjoy. We’re enjoying being along for the ride, thanks.

Bridges look great. I’d add a fence to the rail track there. Lots of people walking by. Don’t want anyone jumping on the track and hurting themselves.

time to add a rail bridge that can lift up to let boats in the canal - would let the train line stay flat? :D

Bricksie is awesome - taking in the constructive opinions and immediately takes actions. And the result is BEAUTY

You are too focused on doing arches for the canal. Do some research on possibly building lift bridges similar to what can be found in many areas of the Netherlands. Those would give some character to the areas crossing over the canal. Something to consider for the future.

Raise your downtown core about 4-5 bricks so it isn't a sea level. This will help with your canal look better.

I 100% agree that the new bridges look way better! Not to completely cow bosh the old bridges. Excellent progress and super excited about the progress of the city!

Adding a few rocks to the train bridge might look nice

Some great Lego engineering here, but you might be better served operationally and aesthetically by putting in a lift bridge of some kind (it wouldn't have to function, just look like it could) The railway in particular looks very unrealistic, and even the road would be a hefty grade for a car! I'd also be worried about the increased risk of an inadvertant derailment following the train accelerating down the incline. Otherwise, the city's looking great! Keep up the good work!

It does look quite good, but in my mind most cities showed online lack the same little detail : planning for the water to be lower than the city. Not by a plate or brick but a real difference. It would require raising most/all of the city or lowering the table area beneath the water. But hey if anyone has the space and possibility to do so, it's you. It would look so awesome and you would get rid of those unrealistic inclines.

Thanks for sharing, love most of what you post.😊

I can’t wait for the mountains, and the improved ninjago section

I say that you should leave the handrails on the bridge of the boardwalk. It actually makes it look like it is made from Lego! Not saying that the tilled of rail doesn’t look like Lego.

loving the canal work Bricksie. Have you considered for the roads within he city over the canal as the lifting bridges you see over canals in the Netherlands. It would be really cool and remove the problem of height clearance.

Excited to see the amusement park, that was my favorite part of the old city

The arch for the boardwalk is pretty exaggerated, perhaps switching it out for a tiered observation deck to connect both sides across the water would be a smoother transition. Also agree with the comments about a draw bridge or lift bridge. But it's looking amazing so far!

I think the bridge opening still looks too small. It would be awesome if you somehow made a drawbridge!

I don’t understand the sidewalk between the road and the train tracks. It’s a sidewalk from nowhere to nowhere. The sidewalk should go over the canal on the other side of the bridge beside the bike lane, from the lantern festival to the university. Would also free up a lot of light grey parts.

Bricksie, you should add SNOT bricks on the arched bridge on the board walk so you can place minifigures on the bridge to make it look more complete, realistic, and it looks like the intense increase in elevation can actually be used by the figures

When you're tiling off the water in front of the canal entrance, I suggest you rotate all the 1×2 tile to show the water flowing into the canal!
