i have an issue with this

the cpu cores are pretty much built for heavy single workloads while the GPU cores would be more suited to many many smaller tasks

they should have represented the CPU cores as being big behemoths capable of taking down titans (pun not intended... honest) while the GPU cores should have been represented as smaller more nimble figures capable of dealing with a zerg rush

Jaguar is available on entry-level notebooks but it has yet to be unveiled as a PC version, right now we have Piledriver (Trinity) on the market, then there's Steamroller, then Bobcat and after that Jaguar. Sony got an exclusive preview of the chip which will be sold by AMD in a 2 years or so. They 're using a semi-custom version of the chip for the PC, and in case you haven't noticed, Jaguar is the first APU ever to have a 2 teraflops GPU which is pretty impressive along with 8 cores.

I think the blue monsters are the programs that are running, namely the threads that need work. Having a few hundred at a time doesn't seem unlikely. And a processor's job ist indeed to finish (off) such tasks. Anyone else?

APU is a processor that combine both CPU & GPU in one for tightly couple integration to share large pool of unified memory to boost performance...

This a teaser for a new technology that is also used in Xbox One and PS4. The 4 cores couldn't defeat the boss, until they worked as one entity (see clip HSA optimized). There are reports that HSA will give 200% to 500% improvements compared to chips not using HSA.

Might buy one of these APU's... Upgrading it later with an 8000m series and Crossfiring with the integrated card... Interesting.

My PC is running an AMD A10-5800k 3.8GHz Quad Core APU. I love APU technology.

That's Video Ram GDDR5 that's on the Graphics chip. The way they do unified system memory on the new consoles just isn't a reality for PC's and there wouldn't be a huge gain if it was.
