Abstract:
We first recall that the functional architecture of the visual cortex has been modelled with Lie group instruments with a sub-Riemanian geometry, and show a model of the cortex based on orientation detection and contrast invariance, able to justify perceptual completion (join work with A. Sarti). The model poses a number of problems of geometrical analysis, related to properties of minimal surfaces and second order partial differential equations.
