Government has evacuated 22 families who were severely affected by recent floods in Lusaka's Mandevu constituency.

Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO says to support the displaced families, K66,000 has been provided to cover two months' rent for them.

Mrs. NALUMANGO who visited the affected families reassured them that the government is fully committed to providing assistance and support.

She added that the families that are currently being sheltered in tents at Chipata Primary School will be relocated to safer areas to prevent the outbreak of diseases.

The Vice President also urged the residents of Mandevu to refrain from constructing buildings in flood-prone areas.

Meanwhile, Mandevu constituency Member of Parliament CHRISTOPHER SHAKAFUSWA thanked government for its swift response.

Mr. SHAKAFUSWA said the timely assistance shows that President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA is dedicated to addressing the challenges faced by the people.
