I remember back when the Alesis HR-16 was first released. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one and when I did, I knew my music would never be the same. At that time and for the money, you just couldn’t get a drum machine with that level of features and functionality, which sounded that good anywhere else. The HR-16 helped a ton of people over the years make great music. The cool thing is, the legend is still alive today, albeit on the “Down-Low”.

Been using mine since 1988, still works great, sounds best with a touch of stereo reverb and delay. Pretty realistic for 16bit

I still use mine so much, the writing has worn off the buttons but luckily I know all the buttons functions

I recently bought an Alesis SR-16, it is basically a HR-16 in a
much smaller package. But ever since my early DAW years
I was using HR-16 and SR-16 sample packs when you could
freely download sample packs but when Alesis got wind they
got those sample packs pulled from the internet but DSK
Mini Drumz has selected HR-16 sounds.

Have you ever tried the 24-Bit Alesis SR-18 (from 2008 I believe??) I'm heavily considering one & you can still get them new along with the SR-16

Thank you for the DP24(SD) videos. I’ve watched them all. Because of them I’m getting a new DP24SD. Please tell me what NEW drum machine you’d recommend. I’m afraid of buying a used DM10 on EBay. The SR18 w/200 patterns seems ok but you’d know best due to the SD and non-MIDI DP24SD. I want to stay away from computers as much as possible. Thank you. 🎵🎵

Sure, the old ones were the best, but you can't buy them any more. Roland R5 is the one I still use.
