Thanks to this video, and the help of Lichess Lessons, I learned the knight and bishop checkmate. Jesse preached about square control and zugzwang. This endgame rarely happens, but knowing the technique makes me more comfortable with concepts in the pattern (square control, king escaping/cornering a king, stalemate, etc.). Great concept

There were a couple of times in online games when my opponent refused to resign in several pawns vs. lone king game. So I though: "Hmm, you want to suffer? I'll make you suffer all right" and promoted to bishop and knight. I don't think I can do the mate against computer, but against humans I was, or more commonly people resigned before the checkmate.

Not counting promoting to bishop and knight intentionally, there was only one time I legitimately got B+N vs. lone king on board. I was on the loosing side though. I intentionally (unsoundly from the computer standpoint) sacrificed my knight for the last not even so advanced pawn, and was banking that my opponent wouldn't be able to do it, and indeed they were not.

Really nice way of explaining it. Very interested in the two knights vs pawn

Knite leads the way.
King saves the day.
Bishop delivers the goods.

That next video on the 2 knight checkmate is going to be crazy! Would you ever think of showing Queen + King vs Rook + King?

It took 7 minutes to say, "B and N is important because it teaches you Zugzwang... Now go learn how to do it somewhere else" xD

Muhahahahaz
