Southern States Ranked WORST To BEST

Aww the south. Such an important part of America’s culture. If you don’t live in the south, you’re missing out on a lot, pal. It’s an interesting region which I regularly poke fun at on this channel.

The south can be defined, roughly as this part - the deep south down here, and these states which are in the south but not IN the south if you catch my drift. But for the sake of clarification, for this video, I’ll be using these 10 states during this analysis.

The goal today is to find out which southern states are bad and which ones are...not so bad. There are many ways that you can define bad versus good, so we’re going to take into consideration common southern stereotypes, as well as agreed upon metrics which people say they want and don’t want when deciding on a place to live.

Along the way, we’ll probably learn a lot about the southern part of our country. And you may grow a deeper appreciation for the American south. It’s a region that’s lovable in many ways. You just have to know where to look.

How is Virginia and North Carolina NOT considered "southern states"? They were part of the Confederacy. And Kentucky was a Union State.

I am from NC and it is absolutely southern! Growing up in central NC most people consider NC definitely southern and states like Virginia, West Virginia, & Kentucky as quasi-southern bordering on mid-atlantic. NC is a fantastic state and in my opinion the best southern state.

How tf are North Carolina and Virginia not included in the south?? Richmond Virginia was not only just the capital of the state but of the Confederacy during the civil war. If that ain’t southern, idk what is.

You’re missing North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Oklahoma here. Honestly, Missouri is pretty Southern too. Just throwing that out there.

Virginia has the most Confederate monuments in the South, Virginia is still southern despite having liberal cities like Manassas in Northern Virginia and Richmond. The rest is very Conservative. What about North Carolina?

Virginia- Richmond, VA was capital of the CSA
North Carolina - unquestionably southern
Oklahoma - more southern than mid-west, big difference between KS and OK
West Virginia - definitely has influences of southern culture

I realize this video is old, but it just came across this on my YouTube feed. First question, in WHAT UNIVERSE is North Carolina NOT a southern state? Same with Virginia. I'm guessing that he left those off for clicking purposes. It worked for me. He's also done Northeast, Midwest, and West. Some states didn't get ranked in any group, such as Alaska, Hawaii, Oklahoma, and Va and NC.
