the bass player and the second drummer are actually their own band, called Big Business. they were originally just gonna ask jared (the bass player) to join but the Melvins absorbing a whole nother band is a very Melvins thing to do, don't you think?

Why is everyone so upset about them having 2 drummers? Allman Brothers and countless others have done it too…I saw Sepultura with ten drummers one time! Melvins rule and if you don't understand why they have 2 drummers see them live and you'll get it…as your face is melting off!

Anyone looking for the roots of Nirvana might well find it in the Melvins, cited by many musicians as an early influence on the GRUNGE SOUND. Said Dan Peters of Mudhoney, “They got really heavy, and then a lot of bands decided they would be really heavy too.”

On “Hooch” (1993), you can hear an unfiltered version of the grunge sound, i.e. distortion-filled, down-tuned and riff-based rock using loud electric guitar feedback and heavy, ponderous basslines to support song melodies.

Songwriters are required to submit the lyrics of their compositions when they get published. Here, Melvins lead vocalist Buzz Osborne is uttering lines like “Lost icka toe rest, might like a sender doe ree” and “You sink my swan, rolly get a worst in”… The words are mush indeed, but they can be interpreted in some existential way. Osborne didn’t have anything deep and meaningful in mind though, but he insists that these are real words. He stated : “Believe it or not, those are actually lyrics, even though it sounds like nonsense. I’d left the lyrics at home and I couldn’t, for the life of me, remember exactly what they said. I remember that day I was recording the vocal, I had to drive all the way back to my house and get them. I thought that was pretty funny.”

“Hooch” is one of the most popular Melvins pieces, the dynamics of the drums setting it apart. 💙🎶💜

I saw the melvins a few month ago, it's so intensive, the tempo is the last thing you hear. I hope this is grammaticaly correct, the last time i'd wrote something in english, it was in 2008.

Funniest "written when drunk" lyrics ever. (That's my guess anyway.)

I think the sped up tempo takes a lot away from what makes the song great in the first place

You can hear the Melvins influence in all kinds of bands. It's like they cast a hundred genres into the music world during their peak.

Here, Red Fang.

How does a song go for 2 minutes when it's done 3x times as fast, when the original is also 2 minutes long?

I don't think the Melvins got a 2nd drummer because they thought Dale wasn't enough. they did it because they can, & they feel like it. Ozma was way more strange when it came out, than the double drummer Melvins is today.

"Los ticka toe rest. Might likea sender doe ree. Your make a doll a ray day sender bright like a penalty." James Joyce sucks compared to that.
